new windows!
As part of my apartment building's new manager's attempts to update and make more attractive the aforementioned apartment building, several improvements have been made in the past month. My parking lot has been repaved, air conditioning units have been cleaned, electrical outlets have been replaced, and now today's most enjoyable news:
I have a new bedroom window! Complete with a screen! (my old window had no screen, so I couldn't leave it open all the time, especially in cicada season) I also have a new set of venetian blinds which are actually attached to the wall! How exciting. I think I might sleep with the window open and blinds up just for the heck of it.
In other news, lest the world think I'm an optimist, here's a short conversation between Manager Mike and me today:
me: The more and more time goes on, the less satisfied I am with our pay system.
MM: Why?
me: Because we never beat our budgets! (an exaggeration)
MM: Oh, that's not true. I'd say we make most of them. (completely untrue..we have missed more than half of our budgets)
me: not according to my paycheck... (walks away)

ooh... how did Mike take that?
the way he usually does... by ignoring it. with silence, he moved on to the next task that would keep him occupied..
Well done for talking to him about it. It's important that he hear how unfair he is being. I hope he at least thinks about it and realizes that he's being a big doofus.
